GAME MANAGER – FALL LINE

The Fall Line, located in Butler, Georgia is in search of a Game Manager. The Game, Fish & Clay Manager (Game Manager) is responsible for the hands-on management of all facilities and activities related to hunting, fishing and target shooting.  The Game Manager ensures that members and their guests receive outstanding service and attention. To that end, the Game Manager will foster a collegial and respectful relationship between the employees managed and Club members and their guests. 

In order to provide appropriate levels of service, this selected candidate will be highly visible and maintain regular contact with members, guests and staff. The Game Manager will work closely and cooperatively with other members of the management team and our consultants to ensure a seamless experience for all our members and guests.  During the first few years of the Club’s operations, while our membership size is limited, the Game Manager will have limited support staff.  Additional staff will be onboarded as the membership expands and facilities come online. 

The Game Manager will report to the General Manager & CEO

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION:

Human Resources

  • The Game manager will abide by the Club’s policies as outlined in the employee manual.
  • Treats all co-workers in a fair and dignified manner
  • Provides ongoing training to all direct reports and staff members who temporarily assist in shooting operations  
  • Maintains NSCA certification and ensures same for all direct reports 
  • Works cooperatively with the Director of Human Resources to develop position descriptions for each job title
  • Immediately brings to the attention of CEO and Human Resources Director any claim or potential claim of harassment, discrimination or similar employee complaint
  • Develops and enforces grooming and uniform standards  
  • Monitors employee morale and informs management of any concerns

Safety & Regulatory Compliance

Safety will be of primary importance. In conjunction with the GM/CEO, the Game Manager will develop detailed safety rules (manual) and protocols that all employees, members and guests are required to abide by.  A brief safety speech will precede all hunts and clay shooting sessions.  The Game Manager will maintain appropriate and required certifications/licenses and ensure that staff are appropriately trained and certified.  The Game Manager will ensure adherence with all hunting and land use laws and regulations. In addition, the Game Manager will obtain and maintain appropriate permits and observe best industry practices.  

Hunting

The Game Manager will work with Club Management and Consultants to develop a first class, safe quail hunting program.  This employee will design programs that meet the needs of both beginner and experienced hunters and will regularly guide hunts. 

Duties include:

  • Scheduling and coordination of hunts. Works closely with the reservations department to ensure a seamless experience for all hunters. 
  • Hiring, training, scheduling and general management of hunting guides and staff.  Will develop standardized hunting practices and procedures that all guides will be expected to follow. 
  • Basic maintenance of firearms.  The Club will identify a qualified gunsmith for other repairs. Ensures all firearms are safely handled and stored.
  • Will work closely with the CEO to develop a purchasing program aimed at acquiring quality shells and shooting supplies at competitive prices.  
  • Under the direction of the CEO, purchases, maintains and properly stores all club shotguns. 
  • Development & Management of club kennel
    • Work with architects and consultants on the design and construction of the Kennel facility.
    • Procurement & training of dogs.
      • This will include development of a sustainable training and boarding program, using humane practices.  
      • Will establish a positive working relationship with a veterinarian and schedule regular vaccinations and checkups. 
      • Will work with management to develop a dog retirement program. 
  • Procurement and/or raising of birds.  Maintenance of bird pens and facilities and the responsible processing and disposal of shot birds.
  • Habitat development, upkeep and maintenance of game lands, fields, trails and roads.  Will work closely and cooperatively with the Club’s game and hunting consultants 
  • Oversees the proper posting of all hunting lands

Fishing

The Game Manager will work closely with the Club’s aquatics Biologist to develop a first-class fishing program that appeals to both novice and experienced fishermen. 

Duties include:

  • Training and development of staff who will be available to provide guiding services. 
  • Habitat development in coordination with the Club’s consultants
  • Selection of spin fishing and fly fishing gear that will be well maintained and readily accessible to all members and guests.
  • Maintains Boats & Docks for both aesthetics and safety
  • Feeder stocking, maintenance and monitoring

Clay Bird & Target Shooting

The Game Manager develop a world class Clay Bird Shooting program that is easily accessible and fun for both new and experienced shooters. 

  • Ensures a safe environment for members, guests, and staff
  • Provides training and development of regular Clay Bird staff and additional personnel 
  • Regularly provides guiding services for members and guests
  • Sets targets
  • Stocks and maintains machines. 
  • Ensures all equipment is in good working order
  • Oversees the condition of the course, maintenance of stands and other course furniture
  • Tracks rounds shot and handicapping system

Procurement, Maintenance and Care for Supplies and Equipment

The Game Manager will adhere to club policies regarding the club policies with regards to purchasing equipment and supplies.  The Game Manager will work within established department budgets and seek advanced approval for any purchase (aside from regular inventory) in excess of $2,500. The Game Manager will obtain competitive bids when appropriate and will also ensure the secure storage, and appropriate distribution of supplies and equipment.  

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

  • $150,000-$175,000, depending on experience
